چکیده

This paper presents a comprehensive validation and verification study of turbomachinery Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes flow solvers on the transonic axial compressor TUDa-GLR-OpenStage. Two commercial namely Ansys CFX Numeca FineTurbo are adopted to provide benchmark solutions, which can be used for other RANS in future. Based these solvers, five sets grids, two advection schemes (i.e., central difference second-order upwind), four turbulence models SA, SA-RC, SST EARSM) rotor-stator interface mixing plane sliding plane) investigated quantify their effects predicting performance field stage. Results show that choices grid density model most sensitive prediction, leading 5% 7% variation characteristics, respectively. Unsteady Transonic Flows in an Axial Flow Compressor*

Introduction. This paper deals with some transonic flow problems for the supersonic axial flow compressor: these arise in connection with flutter analysis for fan blading. Very detailed solutions for unsteady plane transonic flows through a cascade of flat plates have been given by Goldstein Braun and Adamczyk (1977) and Nagashima and Whitehead (1977), see also Goldstein (1975), Kurosaka (1974)...

Effect of aging and manufacturing tolerances on multi-stage transonic axial compressor performance

The Axial compressor is an integrated part of a gas turbine. The central part of compressors is its blades. Blade aerodynamic has a significant effect on compressor performance. Because of the adverse pressure gradient in the compressor, any deviation in the blade profile has a significant influence on the flow field as well as the compressor performance. During the manufacturing and operation ...

Application of Analytical and Numerical Methods for the Design of Transonic Axial Compressor Stages

Usually, the first stage of a compressor of a gas turbine works in the region of transonic flow, so that the designer has to take into account a lot of flow details like shocks, boundary layer separation and their interaction, when a new machine is defined. Beside other problems the choice of the blade geometry and profile family is one important consideration. For the design of the blades anal...

Aerostructural Optimization of a Transonic Compressor Rotor

This paper presents a framework for multi-objective and multidisciplinary design optimization using highfidelity analysis tools. In this framework the aerodynamic performance is evaluated based on a Navier–Stokes equation solver, and the structure dynamics is computed using commercially available finite element software. We employ a genetic algorithm as a robust design optimization tool to faci...
